aftermarket tone ring...Vega Folkways Long neck

Posted by robertmeyerson on Tuesday, October 7, 2008

I have a Vega long neck Folkway Banjo. (The cheaper of the Vega long necks.) I'm interested in finding a tone ring I can attach without doing too much surgery to the banjo. A few years ago I improvised one out of some copper plumbing tubing...drilled a few holes in it....this 'tone ring' is held in place by the tension of the drum. It's been an improvement, but I'd like to find a professional tone ring if possible. I play a lot of folk music, labor songs, etc. I saw one comment that a tone ring was available, but another saying 'no.' Any help out there? I'm new to the 'Hangout,' and hope this submission is in a proper format.

I have been trying to find out what happened to the two tee shirts that were to come with my membership payment. Three emails to your site have gone unanswered.
