I was browsing EBay when I saw this neck for a Buy it Now price that I thought generous. So now I have it. I spent the first afternoon detaching the lower lag bolt which had been set with an inner holding device that I had never seen before. I could probably have removed the heel cap to remove it but I chose to use a sleeve drill and cut around it and then severed the attachment. It was as clean as I could and after drilling and putting in a birch dowel I am well pleased. I attached it to a rim made by Dan Pennington from a variety of woods, and onto which I have put an RK tone ring. I have yet to put on the proper bridge but I re-cut an old one that I had as a temporary. The head is a fairly thick no name from the 70's. I am delighted with this new instrument. I am not sure yet if I shall put on a resonator - I have a few to choose from.
The seller stated that the neck was from a 1920 PB-1. The peghead had already been reamed to take the 5 Star machines. All I had to do was put it together and play.

Dang! How did I miss that? (not that I need another plectrum)...but those necks rarely come up for sale.
