Recently, I have been making bridges with Osage Orange frames and ebony tops. A few hangout members (Ks_5-picker, Joebanjo5, Kelpie, and Granada) have tried them, so seek out their opinion if you're curious. I sent one to Blake Williams last week. He called me yesterday to tell me how much he liked it and he ordered another one. That must mean I'm doing something right. He is playing it in his stage shows this weekend on a newly purchased (from Sonny Osborne) Osborne Scout RK. I'm pretty excited about that.
If any of you pickers want one, just contact me. They are $20. My turnaround time is kinda slow (I am a working college student), but I try to be as quick as possible when I get orders. The osage orange I'm using has been in post form for about 60 years, no telling how long it was a tree. The ebony comes from piano keys that came off a piano that was made from the late 1800's to 1905. So it is at least 103 years old.
To paraphrase Blake: "I put it on my '04 Granada. It made it sound old, like a prewar."
His words. Not mine.
