A tiny bit of background info:
My wife's nickname is Elly Mae. All strays are welcome (I have no say - Guys you know what I mean). Well some cats that have been abandoned or they just like the (dog) food we give them. One of the cats had kittens.
A few weeks ago we heard some kittens meowing in our air vent. We pulled two of them out.
Now with the story:
My wife let me know today that there was a funny smell coming up from the vents in the kitchen and the sun room. That it smelled like a dead animal. You know the odor.....
After I get home. I eat, change, then head out under our house. It's a sectional so I do have some clearance underneath. Not much about 2 ½ feet or so. I really dreaded it do to it being summer and the little critters under there, Namely SPIDERS. I hate them with a passion. Even their webs make me shaky. Yes I'm a man and I admit it. But I still did it.
Once under the house. I head straight for the vent. Yelling through the floor at my wife and kids to bang near the vent. Uggghhh. No access. But I look over and see where some of the AC flexible duct work is and it looks like it has a hole. So I shimmy over there and yep there is the reason for the smell. A kitten had gone on to a better place. I pulled the two end together overlapping them. Once out and into a bag. Out I came. I know I have to fix the hole, but not until a GOOD winter freeze. Maybe some time in November.
