Happy Birthday, Dad

Posted by PaulKirby on Saturday, August 9, 2008

My Dad would have been 77 years old yesterday. He loved the banjo and told us over and over with great pride that we were family with Bashful Brother Oswald. Dad didn't really get the whole opera thing that was to become my whole professional life. It's a shame he wasn't around to see me pick up the banjo.

I'm sorry your Dad's not here to see you play but maybe he knows and hears from somewhere  else.

Hey Paul I lost my old man in 99...so many things i wish he could have seen, my daughters training to be an opera singer she just finished her degree at the Guildhall. My old man thought Jim Davidson was the the "business" I played on the generation game a year after he died in 2000. Just remember the what was and not the what if's...fatbanjo
