Hi, Darrell.... Nope, not unless you are very lucky. Beginner's banjos in the early 60's cost $1-200- when a dollar bought lot more- and were quite cheap and funky at that price. Nothing has improved greatly at that price level ever since, but once in a while a good used banjo pops up cheap. regards, Stanger

Sounds like you and me are travelling in the same footsteps, cause I had a Hondo banjo before I got my Fender FB-58. The Hondo I had was retailed for $233.33 and was a piece o' crap. It came without a tone ring and a cheap aluminum pot. I soon busted the head on it with my inexperienced head-tightening technique (well no technique at all). All and all, these experiences are what you look back at and what you build upon in your career.
