Been thinking about doing it for a while. I've brought my banjo to work at the hospital and played for patients who really seem to enjoy it.

Lots of satisfaction is to be gained by playing to folks who truly enjoy and appreciate your efforts. Several of us have been doing this for years, visiting hospices, assisted-living facilities, etc.. There will be times when some of the residents appear to be asleep while you are entertaining. Don't let this discourage you at all; you don't know what they are absorbing. I've seen some who seemed to be asleep, but had a toe-tapping thing going on! Yep, some of us are old enough to be in one of these establishments ourselves. One time when we were leaving, a little lady in a wheelchair tugged at my sleeve and said, "thank you for coming out of your room and playing for us".

That's funny cottonmouth. Let me know which room you're in and I'll come play for you!

Thanks for the nice words guys. We have been doing this for a number of years and as I said we always receive more than we give. The toe tapping has been seen numerous times too.
