value of banjo and quitar

Posted by peepo552 on Saturday, June 21, 2008

I have a 1959 "baby" acustic gibson guitar that I have owned since I was 9 years old.  Also a 1927 gibson mastertone banjo that was rebuilt at the factory in Kalamazoo, Mi. and a tone ring put in by Perry McKinley.  I was wondering if anyone had any idea of the value of these for insurance purposes.  I went for new house insurance and they want value in order to insure them.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pictures would help. Is the banjo a 4 string (plectrum or tenor) or 5 string. And if it is a 5 string, is the neck original? What are the serial numbers? What is the condition? There are many Gibson banjo experts on this site (I'm not one of them) who would have a better idea, but they will need the information I just asked for and probably more.

I think they replaced the neck when we took it up there and it is a five string.  I will try to get serial numbers.  They told us at the factory that it was a 1927.  Thanks
