It has been two years already since I launched onto the music scene with my trusty axe. Now that I am established, I just want to pass on my condolences to all those less fortunate than me. I wish all of you could play as well as I can, but then again, I understand that not everyone can be so talented. Maybe with the proper application of time and money, some of you could make it on the same stage as me, after I am done of coarse.
Oh, hello, oh, I suppose I should wake up now!
Well, It has been a couple of years now and I am still enjoying it. I hear actual players like Dwight Diller play and I wish I was somewhere in the same ballpark with my playing as they are, but it is not the case. However, I have high hopes that my playing will be good someday. I still do not know if there is really a rush or not in this area, and I will just "enjoy the ride" for now. There is only one day in the past 730 that I have not played the instrument at least a little. Many of my practices are necesarily short, but I still enjoy it, and at times, I think others do too.
I took instuction for 10 weeks 1 1/2 years ago, otherwise, I have learned mostly from tab. I figured out one song by ear. I have not gone to any jams. There is a local jam and I may wander in next month, as there is no jam in May. Other than this, I mostly play for myself. My wife and I are empty-nesters, and most of the time the house is empty now. Sometimes the grandkids will be over or company and someone will ask me to play for them, and that's fun, but I would not say I have any sort of mastery over the instrument.
I'm glad I fell into clawhammer style as I play alone most of the time. I didn't like clawhammer style sound at first, sounded too close to guitar to me. Now I am glad to be playing it. I feel I would not make a very good scruggs player. I hope you all enjoy playing as much as I do. See ya!
