I knew I was in dire need of strings, so I changed them last night. The difference is more than remarkable. It's a little miracle made of wire. All of a sudden the Big Banjo is singing again, perky and crisp. I need a head-tightening, too... time to get out my little wrench and get to that.
Speaking of little miracles, I am continuing to play very well. I do not know why--I am not quite ready to credit practice and focus just yet. I prefer to think of this jump up from the plateau as a freak occurence or a bolt from the blue instead of a real step forward. I understand that proficiency progression is not a smooth curve. For me, it's more like stair-steps. The last few months have been a looooooong plateau, though. I am almost afraid to think that I've actually gone up a step on the skill ladder.
Today was 80 degrees and really lovely outside. My daffodils are in bloom, and the hyacinths are past their prime. My day lilies are up about 6" and may actually be in bloom for the kiddo's graduation party in June. I almost went outside to pick for a while, but the phone started to ring and by the time I handled all the calls coming in, my window of opportunity was gone. Maybe tomorrow. The banjo sounds so good when it's played outdoors!

Can't explain the improvement. Well, expect a miracle. Don't just hope for one...EXPECT one.

Hi Joan - yes, those steps (upwards hopefully) !! I feel like I'm walking on ice at the moment, two steps forwards, one step back!! But I'm hanging in there!. Best wishes, Bryan.
