"Faith That's Sure" is the name of the song of my first announced public appearance on banjo -- maybe. First, I have to make the cut.
As a recovering Catholic, I'm challenged, appreciative, and amused by the fact that Protestant churches can be pretty hard line on who gets to play during worship service. If ya cain't cut the mustard on the music, y'ain't playin' on Sunday. I'll apprectate any wisdom or encouragement that may do me some good. In exchange I will offer your choice of my wisdom, encouragement, prayers, or all the above.
I'm amused that this particular piece is a unison song for the choir -- an easy task for a talented group. I'm also amused that the music says "banjo or autoharp opt." but has no tablature -- in fact, no musical line whatsoever for banjo or autoharp. I've worked on some vamping over chord changes, have worked out the melody line from the score, some "twiddling" lines, and am trying to learn how to sing and play all at once.
-- And why not?

Sounds like a great "project." I have no wisdom to impart. I do want to encourage you. I'm sure you'll 'make the cut.' ...unless, of course, there are a selection of banjo players at your church and you have to audition. LOL ...and then you'd probably be selected because you belong to the BHO and we are all better players because of it. Play like you know the angels are dancing to your music.
