It just dawned on me: I can no longer say that I haven't even been playing for a year, because it's not true any more. Too bad - that was a good excuse.
Coming back to Foggy Mountain breakdown. This is a song I never managed to get to sound right. I seem to be getting all the notes right, but it comes out like some kind of rolls exercise rather than a tune. That Dutch kid on YouTube brought my attempt at mastering that tune to a halt. He says, "My name is whatever and I'm four years old and I'm going to teach you Foggy Mountain Breakdown." Then he does the old pluck one or two notes and then accelerate at about 400 times the rate that your average beginner can follow routine.
But this time I'm going to get it down.
