I used to watch a TV show called Northern Exposure. One episode was about S.A.D., Seasonal Affective Disorder, which is a depression brought on by the short winter days of the far northern latitude. Then I am reminded of Jimmy Buffet who sings about Changes in Latitude, changes in attitude. I lived in Louisiana for about twenty years before moving to Kentucky in 2000, and since moving back north I have noticed that the short days of winter just depress me to no end. The summer days here of course are longer than they were in Louisiana, but the winter blues just seems to hang on until way up into the spring. I don't think I have a medical condition, but if anyone has the banjo tab for Depression Blues, or Margaritaville, I could use them.
My plan for this weekend was to go to the gym and spend some quality time with my banjo, to include doing the inlay work. As you may know, Kentucky, as well as many other areas of our country, have experienced some bad weather. So what I did yesterday, was go to Lowe's and spend some quality time on my roof replacing shingles. Then I spent some quality time with my trailer skirting. I'm still counting my blessings, a lot of good people lost their homes, and some even their lives in the storms. Losing a little Banjo time doesn't seem so bad when you look at the big picture.
