lyric gadget

Posted by clio on Saturday, December 22, 2007

Mr. Alztheimer is creeping up on me and I can't remember song lyrics. I learn them one day and forget them the next.

I could buy one of those rolex type devices with flip pages that country music singers install on their mikes. But I would prefer to use a gadget like a handheld Palm, with a screen scrolling song lyirics, that could be mounted on my peghead, as most tuners are now attached. Anyone seen such a gadget in use?

Palm still sells a few models. You can enter the lyrics in a number of different ways and let the thing scroll automaticly through the text at whatever speed you like. The speed can easily be changed with one finger. The only problem is that it is small. The Sony book reader has a larger screen but it doesn't scroll and it isn't back lit so you need good ambiant light. On the other hand the resolution on the Sony reader is much higher so you could actually put music or tab on it which would not be readable on the Palm. For the Sony you would just save you file in text, word, or pdf.

Leland, I'll tell you what is even worse! I write songs and can't remember them after I'm done. Now that is embarrassing! Part of the reason is my songs generally have a a story telling nature to them and are often longer than the standard 2 or 3 verse bluegrass songs. Anyway, don't feel bad.....you aren't alone with that problem! Merry Christmas! Dave Peterson
