Been thinking about the Sonny Smith B160 banjo a lot lately because of the wider neck, I still have trouble fretting and getting clean notes. Found one in the hills of Tennessee near me that I could finally lay hands on and see if thats what I needed, decided to call my instuctor first and get his professional opinion and low and behold after some careful measuring ot the strings and the fretboard we can change the nutt and widen the stings enough to get my big fingers the room they need. He says that based on my measuring we had plenty of room, thank goodness for knowledgable instructors, he just saved me about $600 bucks. If any of you other fat fingered pickers run into this there is hope outside of buying a different banjo, as I just found out. Just had to write and tell of my good fortune and to thank my instructor, Donnie Little of Claremont, NC, thanks a bunch teach................Carl

I'm a little confused. Did you say 'I don't need another banjo after all? I don't think I've ever heard those words put together in that order.

Maybe 'Didn't I need another banjo after all?'

Or... 'need another banjo!!!!! After all, didn't I...

didn't I quit smoking/drinking/playing the horses/snorting pop-tarts, etc.

Seriously Carl, I'm glad you got it sorted. It just made me a little sad to hear the words 'I didn't need another banjo after all'.

Of course, you need another banjo. How can you even think you don't need another banjo? Maybe you don't need another banjo for the reason you thought you needed another banjo, but you still need another banjo. Maybe you don't have $600 to spend on another banjo but that doesn't equate to not needing another banjo. We all need another banjo. Oh by the way, I don't make or sell banjos.

Let me rephrase that, I do need another banjo........but, if I went out and got me one, I would have some spainin to do to Lucy(not her real name), and would probably be sleeping under the stars for several nights. Now I don't know bout where you might be, but its getting plum cold here at night, so I thinks I'll just wait on that new, or good old used banjer, if'in you know what I mean.
