Why is it when I leave it for a while, when I pick it up it almost comes effortlessly, then when I try to keep it going I start missing notes and strings and chords.............ugh..........? The more I try to practice and make it sound good the more difficult it is, does anyone else go through this in their playing and learning? If there is anything that anyone on here does to make it easier give a middleage man a shout, I have a good teacher who lays it out so easy for me but man am I a putz when it comes to this banjo thing. Oh by the way this is my first blog and I think Eric has the best website on the planet for the banjo picker. Thanks for letting me air my dirty laundry and everybody keep on picking.....................Carl

Yep, it used to happen to me all the time. You need to slow down until you can play it clean every time. Then pick up the speed a little at a time but still playing it clean. After a while, you'll be playing it 'right' every time.
Keep the faith.
