I was inspired by a post on what love is to put down a funny little story to my blog. My wife and I have been happily married for 26 years now, and we feel we have been exceptional in the area of communication. We talk about everything together. Even if I don't take her financial advice, (we decided I would take care of the family finances early on in the marriage), I will seek it or at least keep her in the loop. But we talk about what we did today, how the kids are doing, what our work day was like, you know, everything.
Well, I guess I should have known after 26 years, that when my wife said she likes potatoes, she meant that she likes potatoes. But I have only this year started exploring how to make good fried potatoes, her particular favorite.
It's funny that I never thought about it all these years, but I guess I would concentrate on the fact that, hey, that means I get more of the roast out of the crock pot, and I won't have to eat so many of the potatoes. Kind of like the nursery ryme Jack Sprat,
Jack Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no lean, and so betwixt the two of them, they licked the platter clean. Except that I like meat, and she likes potatoes.
Anyway, it wasn't just me. My wife has found that when I said I liked blueberry pie, I really meant to say, that I liked blueberry pie.
We have both become each others favorite cooks this year!

Curt, you made me laugh! It takes good humor to keep a marriage going in the right direction. (29 years for me) I'm always happy to read about a man that tries to please his lady.(smile)
