The North Shore Ramblers

Posted by Jim Yates on Saturday, October 13, 2007

Alan Kirby, Zeke Mazurek and I have been playing gigs as Kirby, Yates & Mazurek for a few years now, but recently decided to call ourselves The North Shore Ramblers.  I live in Port Hope and have lived within a few miles of the north shore of Lake Ontario from Kingston to Dundas, most of my life, Zeke grew up in Oshawa and now lives in Wellington, both on the north shore and Al grew up in Burlington and spent most of his adult life in Cobourg, both on the north shore.  Though Al has lived for the last couple of years in Peterborough, which is about a half hour north of the lake, he's agreeable with the new name.

The name kinda sounds like an old time band and we do play a lot of old time tunes, but we also play  bluegrass, swing, blues, country, jug band, contemporary and anything else that suits our fancy.  We're even working on a version of Pachabel's Cannon that includes the banjo, fiddle and mandolin, but no guitar.
