Doin' it for myself now!

Posted by luthier99 on Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Well, I had been out of work for a while as some of you may have read on my bio.  After having been a member with BHO for only a short time, I allready had members giving me some good advice on the subject.  I even had a prospective job offer from one of the members here, Dan Moore (dcm).  Wow, what a great place this is.  First of all, I would like to thank everyone who gave me words of advice and confidence.  Second, I would like to thank Dan Moore of The Newfound Woodworks most of all.  He gave me an opportunity to meet with him, take a look at the beautiful boats and boat kits they hand make, and reminded me how many wonderful people exist both locally and here at BHO.  Take some time to view their website, http://www.newfound.com/ , you will see how a small business puts honor and pride into every product they produce and some of the most beautifully hand crafted canoes and kayaks in the world.  In the end, as much as I would have been proud to call myself an employee at Newfound Woodworks, we both decided it best for me to keep woodworking a hobby, and focus on just sales, even though I would have had the opportunity there to socialize and sell to many of their wonderfull customers.  I'm one of those rare persons that just loves people.  That's why I enjoy sales.  It gives me the opportunity to meet and socialize with exciting new people everyday.  I know some of you may be reading this thinking, "man, he's crazy", but if your honest and believe in the product your selling, it can be one of the most rewarding carreers.  I may have days or even weeks on end, when I don't sell anything, but when I make that one really great sale, or have a customer tell me how much they appreciate my product and dedication, I feel naturally higher than any drug in the world could make a person feel.  For this reason I have decided to start my own sales company.  I'm allready out there selling my first product, premium quality lighting for business'.  This isn't your GE, Sylvania, Phillips junk (no offense), this is the best quality lighting possible.  I can save people money, improve their work, and help the environment with this first class product.  So I feel really good about what I'm doing.  It's going to be hard work.  Since I'm my own boss, I'll have to work long hours, and try really hard not to play banjo all day, even though I can see it when I go to the kitchen or bathroom.   Man, it's going to be tough, but everything worth doing always is.

Good luck! For many years, I owned a sign and graphics shop, and I always bought my lighting from an independent dealer/salesman who checked in twice a year. Good light makes all the difference in the world for many professions. I hope you do very well in your new enterprise.
