Counting the days to IBMA! I'm so glad it's in Nashville and I don't have to fuss with hotels and such. Once again, John Drummond of Banjo.com has been kind enough to give me a corner of his booth to display a few Tranjos. Last year, Dave Schenk of Dogwood Designs was there as well and we had a great time. I'm looking forward to meeting anyone from the Hangout who stops in. I'll have 2 maple Tranjo 8.0s for sale there and I'll offer a good deal at the show if anyone is interested. I'll also have a walnut TranjoCaster electric solid-body for sale, as well as my personal demo models to try.
I'm working on the final details of my newest Tranjo prototype. It will be somewhat different from my current Tranjos, but the necks are identical and just as high quality as before. The body uses a simplified construction technique that I hope is patentable, and can also be applied to travel guitars and other instruments as well. With any luck I'll have at least one guitar and a lap steel to show too. The best news is the new Tranjos will be lighter - 2.5 lbs - and lower in price. They won't be as loud acoustically or sound as good as a regular Tranjo, but they will make terrific practice banjos. Just a few minor details left to work out.
