Hello fellow bho users,
Today is a sad day, for I have decided to retire my ol' trusty 1928 Bacon & Day, No.2 5-String, Plectrum Banjo. This fine work-horse of a Banjo was my first, and my ol' pappys first Banjo ever. He acquired it on a train from Alabama to new york in 1960 when he was sellin' his dun S'weet Potatoes at the city from that year's harvest, and he had made $350 in all, and on his way back, an older man was playin'an old tune when my dad looked over at him and asked where he got such a glorious Banjo from. He said to my daddy (24 years of age at the time) long ago when he was a younger man, before saying that it didn't bring him joy like it used to, so he said if my daddy gave him $20,, that it would be his. My pap didn't even hesitate,, and he pounced on the offer. He then brought it back home to me sweet mother and learned how to play over the next 9 years. The. I was born, and he had to take a break from it,, but when I was just one year old he started teaching me how to play. As I grew up to be 17, my daddy also lost the joy like the other old man, and so he gave me it, and my brother wasn't happy although he hadn't ever shown anywhere nearly as much interest in Banjo as I have, so my daddy made his decision to give it to me. Anyways, 39 or so year's has past since then, and it's all worn down and barley makes a right note anymore, so I've decided to retire it. It's almost 100 years old, and after being passed down by 3 people, I think it's run is done. I've hung it on my wall in a protective case in the center of all of my favorite Banjo bluegrass country albums wall, where it will be the centerpiece for years to come.

I’m sure buying new stringers will fix it right up
