Just wanted to let everyone know that we recently lost a very special friend and banjo player, Dave Pethtel. Dave went by pdbanjo in his posts, as I recall, and was a frequent forum contributor.

Sorry for your loss. I exchanged a few messages with Dave in conversations on the forum. Very cordial.
In The Banjo Forum group on Facebook, someone who recently bought one of Dave's old banjos posted a message on June 4 asking if anyone knew anything about the banjo. I don't know if he made it to the June 17 celebration of Dave's life to bring the banjo and ask about it.

Thanks. I'll post on Facebook for him to come here. Or maybe I'll contact you for your email and write to him saying I can put him in touch with a friend of Dave's. The banjo he has is a yellowish-colored curly maple with hearts and flowers inlay, no name in peghead, and writing by Dave inside the resonator dating the banjo to 1987, I think. Sound familiar? People are left guessing whether Dave built the banjo, assembled it from parts, or just wrote the date of his ownership.
