Longneck Banjo Gig Bags

It's always been hard to find a soft gig bag that accommodates a Long neck banjo. I have two Gibson Long Necks (Rb-175 and RB-180) with hard shell cases. Searching for a regular, lighter soft case for these is a joke. Only one company (to my knowledge) makes a gig bag for long necks. Gold Tone at about $80.

I just bought a bass guitar gig bag that fits. A Donner Bass guitar gig bag. It's long enough, wide enough, and padded enough to fit my Gibson's into. Now, I put some padding at the bottom and top, and underneath the long neck, and it works fine.

I carry a 6 string, a 12 string, and  a long neck banjo to gigs in a larger grocery type push cart, plus stands, chords, etc. and the extra space and lighter weight helps a lot. All instruments are in Gig bags. What a difference!

If you are playing 2-4 gigs a month, this really helps....without sacrificing protection to your instruments.

Hi Tony,
I have a hard sided Gator gig bag that works out great for LN's. It's actually made for a regular size banjo with a resonator. The extra room for the resonator is almost enough to fit the LN as is. Just a slight modification is needed to allow the LN to fit. Using a hammer, simply pound down the styrofoam that is underneath the felt lining at the top by where the head goes and the LN fits in perfectly. Both my LN's fit in this bag. It has nice straps for carrying on your back. It protects the banjo like a hard case but has the advantage of a gig bag. I've been using this one for a couple years not. I have a picture but I'm not sure where I can post it.

I should have been responding to J-Dawg, not Tony....
I need to pay attention.
I was trying to figure out a way to upload a photo of my case but I don't see an option to do that here.

I use a Bass gig bag because it has way more rectangular pockets, and way more padding.
I toured in Germany in 2003 and I enjoyed watching the banjo go by on the security screen at the airports.

I use a Blue Heron gig bag for my long neck. Excellent custom made product.
