Irish Tenor Banjo

So I felt compelled to purchase a tenor banjo.  That brings my banjo total to 4 and they are all different.  I got a really good trade in on a guitar I had so it was a good deal and I wasn't playing that guitar.  I started with lessons online at the https://www.oaim.ie. It is mostly playing by ear and notes. Good for me to learn more and improve my ear. My husband keeps saying I should play by ear but i find that very frustrating. So now I am learning this banjo and this tuning by ear. :)

Cool! Yes, practice your ear, you won't be sorry.

What's the tuning? The only four-string tuning I know is for plectrum banjo, which is usually drop-C aka old-standard-C (C G B D).

The lessons I am doing recommend the GDAE tuning.

I'd love to hear a clip once you get going with it!

Okay I will . They is using a flatpick which I have been doing some of on the guitar. I had to learn to use the picks on the banjo as I had never even owned a pick of any kind till I started getting serious about learning the banjo 3 years ago.

Another bonus I have discovered is that my mandolin is tuned the same so I can play the song I am learning on both instruments. That is fun :)
