I am still here although I have not posted much lately. I read. Bought a new banjo. It is a Gold Tone White Ladye with the Tree of Life inlay. It is very pretty and sounds great although it is much louder than my other open back. I think I need to spend some time doing claw hammer style. I have been paying the guitar quite a bit lately and try amd practice both. Very happy with my instruments. :)

That sounds like a nice addition. Can a Banjo ever be to loud? I think not.

If you do try clawhammer stick with it. It takes a long time of practicing the basic strum to get it down and get your playing up to a reasonable speed, but then once you do a whole new world opens up. I enjoyed Dan Levensons Clawhammer Banjo From Scratch Book, it's great for someone who has already got some left hand dexterity.

I'm happy for you. Did you have any luck with the Dave Hum website order?

Thanks AndyW I am concentrating on the basics. I. have decided I want to get this style right. I think it will be fun as I like to play and soing and I think clawhammer is more conducive for that , for me anyway. Thanks pickn5 I got my money refunded as there was no response from the website. I wrote them several times. Disappointing as I would have liked to have his music to listen to and the songbook but I guess the family has given up maintaining it. He was so talented.
