I have been listening on You Tube to Molly Tuttle. There is some super videos on there. I love the one of The Girl I left Behind Me. What a super song. Yes I know it is an add for the Deering Banjo but I have listened to it at least 50 times by now. I have been playing it but I am learning how it should really sound and that is so helpful!   I have been playing guitar more as well..they kind of go together.  Haven't had a lot of time to be online but I find I would rather practice then cruise the internet except to look for new banjo stuff. :)

You should look up John Hartford's version, also on Youtube. Not sure who originally wrote the song, but his version from way back when is great.

VirginiaPicker YesI have watched his version too. I really like this one though. I have found some interesting lyrics from the past to it. All different. I guess you could invent you own lyrics as well which might be kind of fun. :)

I should follow your lead and spend less time on the Internet and more time practicing. Keep picking.

Judith511- Yep new lyrics might be an updated twist on the song. To your point, I've heard some really funny "spoof" verses to Salty Dog Blues.

Wonderful! It's nice to see three finger picking on an open back banjo. That's great bunch of musicians I've never heard before.
