10 tunes off tab at 'stuttering pace' now. Moving on to Arkansas Traveller.
(Sat Aft) First look, and a couple of plays shows this one to be really easy fingering. The tune is well in my head, being no 2(I know no 11 recently) this received lots of double thumb, and lots and lots of drop thumb attention. And more importantly it was the first 'kitchen sink' tune to receive any attention with it being my introduction to pull offs and hammer ons within a banjo tune. So I'm positive about this one.
(Sun) The only banjo played was a quick blast for my girlfriends buddy to show how the banjo sounds.
(Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs) Picked the banjo up a couple of times, but no real deliberate practice. To be honest since last Thursday my mind has been on the fallout from a particularly antagonistic petanque club AGM(Vive la revolution BTW). Tonight the dehumidifier is blasting away drying clothes in my practice space. As today is now 7th Dec hopefully I can get my head back into things tomorrow, lest my goal of memorising all 12 tunes by 11 December becomes rather unattainable.
(Sun Morn) Finally picked up the banjo again. This time really went for getting off tab and I am pleased to have done so. I think the few times playing whilst not really concentrating must have helped a bit just by constant repetition.
If I can manage Angeline the Baker today and tomorrow I will have met my memorisation goal. I am relatively hopeful of doing that since Angeline received a lot of 'finger work' earlier and I am completely familiar with the melody.
