As I have travelled to visit my brother, yesterday I had the first day (I think) in about three months not playing any banjo.
I had planned to take some strings and restring his guitar as a banjo. However, carrying hand luggage only I thought I would just get them taken off me. It seems London Gatwick has massively upped it's security, so I'm reasonably confident that would have happened.
I also think I might have come across as slightly obsessed.
However, simply picking up a guitar and having a play does not seem so bad. And if I just happen to concentrate on left hand fingering exercises, pull offs and hammerons on the first four strings it must be just sheer luck that it's directly transferable to banjo.
Seriously though, not playing clawhammer has allowed me to concentrate on my left hand pinkie/ring finger interaction. I basically made up exercises and actually could discern improvement between the start of the session(1/2 hour) and the end. I'm hoping I can sneak in some of this guerrilla practice every day and a week of it will be beneficial when I finally get my hands on a banjo again.

Where there is a will, there is a way. You can get better at banjo without evening having one!
