12:00-2:00pm - Beginning Banjo Clawhammer Technique w/Kaia Kater
This will be a hands-on workshop where participants will learn tunes in the clawhammer style as well as several drills to improve technique. Participants should bring their own instrument; observers are welcome!
12:00-2:00pm - Clawhammer Banjo Blues w/Michael Miles
Deep Ellum, Walkin Boss, Candyman, Key to the Highway - blues tunes, all yours for the asking. This workshop will show you how to step into three worlds - song accompaniment, arranged solo, and improvisation. Intermediate Level.
2:30-4:30pm - Play Well With Others w/Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer
Bring your banjo, fiddle, guitar, banjo uke, ukulele, cello banjo, mandolin, bass or other acoustic instrument and we will have a coached jam session. Coaching will include jam session tips on listening, dynamics of a jam session, choosing a capo position, including vocals in a jam session, figuring out common repertoire, figuring out how to share new repertoire and of course, lots of jamming. Must be able to easily change chords in C (C,F,G,Am) and G (G, C, D Em).
