Hi to all you wonderful banjo players ,I would like to re start my banjo journey and learn from the beginning .With an intention of playing and accompanying friends and others .I say restart my journey as I was introduced to the 5 string banjo as a younger man , however never had a love of bluegrass and struggled to understand tunings of the instrument .I originally chose the banjo with the intention of playing jazz tunes and now realize all be it a lot later in life the 5 string was probably not the correct instrument . So I am now looking to play the four string and have been introduced to the Chicago tuning . I would appreciate any help in where to begin my understanding of scales and fifths etc any asssitance fully appreciated.

You might want to ask your question in the 4 string Jazz, blues, etc., forum. It gets more reads than the blog.
Forums are located on the left hand side of the page. Under forums, click forum home, scroll to appropriate forum, click on it. Then in upper right hand side click post new topic. Give your topic a subject, ask your question(s) and click submit new topic. Then check back for answers.
If you are just interested in the theory behind scales and 5ths, etc., you might ask your question in the music theory forum rather than the 4 string forum.
