Something Very Exciting Is On The Way!

Posted by yellowdog on Monday, February 27, 2017

I received a telephone call last month from a respected 5-string banjo player and regular contributor to "5-String Newsletter" who wanted to know more about a banjo bridge that I came up with and patented many years ago.  I sent him as much information about the bridge as I could find in my files, of course.  After sending it for some reason his telephone call and interest got me thinking that I had quit a lifelong dream of mine too early, and that success in finally achieving my dream was right around the corner.  It better be right around the corner because I will be 80 this coming July and can't waste time.

This lifelong dream of mine has been to use what I have learned from many years of experimenting with musical sound surface waves to invent a very inexpensive gadget that can be attached to stringed musical instruments to significantly improve the instrument's sound quality and volume.  No, I didn't hear any voices telling me this.  It was just a feeling, but a very compelling one that did not go away and still hasn't.

This feeling of finally being a hair's breath away from some wonderful discovery of a lifetime caused me to think about my hundreds of old attempts and why they didn't work, and which ones did work and what I didn't know when I did this and that, and what I should have tried, etc.  I realized that I had almost all the experience that I needed to find the solution that I was looking for, and I also had all the equipment that I needed including a Gibson tenor, a Gold Tone Irish short neck tenor, a round hole Baby Taylor Guitar, and an f-hole mandolin. More important, I still had my health. Unfortunately, I had given away my fiddle but that was no problem because I rented one the next day since I would surely need it.  My goal was to design a gadget that worked well in all of these instruments and the violin would be the most difficult instrument to improve.

Don't ask me why or how but every path that I took in trying this and that experiment with all of my instruments led to apparent success and then to another successful thought and successful experiment.  The result is that last week I submitted a provisional patent request to the patent office for a very simple paper and tape device that significantly improves sound quality and volume of banjos, guitars, violins, mandolins and probably many other stringed musical instruments.  And later this week I will be mailing a dozen free samples to the fellow who called me about the bridge for him to give to his friends and associates for their opinions. The directions accompanying the free examples explains in detail how these gadgets work.  There are no secrets.

So this is a "heads up" for all my friends and fellow banjo players on BHO - that something "very exciting" is on the way.  I'll tell you more right here as soon as I can - probably in a week or two.

Never give up!
