I have been working hard, mainly at the forward roll. It is making a difference! I changed my way of thinking about it, and I changed my practice to focus on it. And I have more time to practice now.
For most of my banjo playing "career" I didn't have much confidence and was not thrilled with how I sounded. I expected that gradually eventually it would improve.
I played for 10 years but never was in a band, but now I'm in two bands! Neither one makes any money (yet) but both sound very good.
So it really has gotten to be a lot of fun. It was always fun, but also frustrating because I couldn't make it sound the way I wanted to. Now it is getting there.
Instead of being asked to play softer, I am being asked to play louder! So that's a good sign.
