Upcoming Banjo Workshop—Everett’s Barn!
Join us for a banjo workshop Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 11-5pm hosted by Mark Raborn & Chris Talley-Armstrong at Everett’s Barn!
4055 Stonecypher Rd
This workshop is ideally suited for beginner and intermediate skill-levels and will cover many, MANY aspects of playing banjo. Even if you’re not sure how to put your picks on—or which end of the banjo to play—this workshop is for you! (We will divide the group at different points in the sessions to better accommodate the varying proficiency levels)
From hand-positioning to music theory; to rolls, chords, and how to make it all work, we’ll help advance your playing, no matter what learning challenges you’ve experienced in the past.
Some of the topics we will cover include:
Music Theory as it Applies to Banjo: Only the important stuff and how to use it. This segment also focuses on how to begin playing in jams when you don’t know the music.
Playing Technique: Does it seem like you practice and practice and see little improvement? Sometimes, a subtle technique adjustment will make all the difference.
Fret-board geography: Includes Licks and lines, chords, scales and how to use them, while becoming more familiar with the layout of the banjo fingerboard.
Back-up techiniques—and how to help your playing sound more polished and professional.
Basic instrument set-up—Chris is a master at getting your banjo to sound better!
Tunes, Tunes, Tunes! Be thinking of some you would like to learn.
Each participant will receive handouts of relevant work materials, as well as audio files with tunes and techniques we work on. It’s like 3-6 months of lessons in one day!
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. To register, contact The Bluegrass Shack at 618-475-3678. Cost is $70 and includes take-home materials and follow-up! Contact Mark with questions or comments at email@example.com.
