Well, I just returned from my first banjo gathering since attending FIGA in 1984. Overall, it was a great experience. It was nice for the Mrs. and I to get away from home for the weekend. We got to spend time with an old banjo friend of mine (Mr. Jim Rivell), meet some new friends and finally meet up with another BHO member, Mr. David Cavage. Dave is a wonderful player and entertainer, but even more, a first rate gentleman. It was a humbling experience being around so many skilled players. But it definitely has inspired me to work harder at the craft of playing music. Looking forward to next year's event.

Thanks for the report. I live about 2 miles from Allenberry, just a little further up the Yellow Breeches creek. I made a few tenors years ago and went to two FIGA conventions then with one of the guys I made them for, in 81 and 82. Fun trips and there were incredible players there even though I don't play that style (I'm a five string guy). I haven't been to any since then. One of these years I'm going to check it out again just for fun since its so close.

Glenn, if you happen to come to any of the future BBA events at the resort, please look me up. FWIW, Drew Frech of Rochester NY & company played some wonderful sessions on 5-string focusing on the classical style of banjo that was made popular by Fred Bacon and others in the late 19th & early 20th centuries. It was awesome to hear!
