I've only had my new RK-r36 less than a week, and it's hard to keep my drool off the strings while I'm practicing! I bought it through Homestead Pickin' Parlor in Minneapolis, and had them do basic set up. I love the guys there, and I don't mind paying a little extra to buy local. I'm especially impressed with the noticeable change in tone as I pick towards the bridge and then move up to pick towards the fretboard. After it settles, I may tweak with a new bridge etc., but the sound improvement and playability over my starter model Fender is so incredible that I might just leave it completely alone. This will probably be the banjo for the rest of my life, and I will have no trouble handing it over to my grandkid(s) (first one due shortly!). Now, how to figure out how to retire earlier so I have more time for banjo.......
