I have been playing banjo on and off for a couple of years and recently I have developed trigger finger, which actually doesn't happen that often.
But I kind agitate it when I play the banjo. It's the ring finger and I think it may be related to the drum lean finger and or nerve irritation in the forearm from
the steel plate that you rest the forearm on. Am I alone in this? The finger gets kind of arthritic. I don't want to give it up (banjo) but I am not going for surgury.
Any thoughts?

I have had trigger fingers for 3 years. I had the first on operated on 2 1/2 years ago and it is fine. Recently I have developed two more on the other hand. For these I have had Cortisone shots and they went away in about 3 days. The doctor said that the Cortisone takes care of about 80% of them. It is caused by a cyst that grows on the tendon and there is a tube in the joint that the cyst tries to go through but can't till under pressure then it pops through. Some time it hurts when it goes through. Go to a Orthopedics and if the shot will work it should be covered with insurance. Keep on picken.
