FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: BANJO CAMP NORTH AND MANDOLIN CAMP NORTH ENTER A NEW ERA
Mike Kropp is pleased to announce that he and a partner have purchased Music Camps North, the operation that produces Banjo Camp North and Mandolin Camp North, from Michael Holmes, who initially founded Banjo Camp North in 2000. Plans are already underway for both camps to run next spring. Banjo Camp North will be held on May 15th, 16th and 17th; Mandolin Camp North will be held on April 17th, 18th and 19th. Both camps will be held at Prindle Pond Conference Center in Charlton, MA, their home for the last five years.
Kropp says that the plan is to continue in the same path that Music Camps North has followed from the start. “We really don’t want to make any big changes. We want to present the best players available. We will keep using the great instructors we’ve had in the past, but we plan to augment that faculty with some new faces; we think that folks will be amazed by the line-up.” Kropp also stresses that the continuity of the organization’s core personnel: Music Director Phil Zimmerman will remain as Bluegrass Music Director for both camps, while former Music Director and long-time instructor Martin Grosswendt has been hired as Associate Director of Music Camps North and will serve as Old Time Music Director for both camps as well.
“We’re tremendously excited about working with Martin and Phil. They know and love the music, they have excellent contacts in the banjo and mandolin communities, and they love the camps. We think we’ve got a winning combination here.”
Kropp and his associates have already begun to engage the 2015 faculties for both camps. He predicts that the line-up should be announced in the very near future. “We’ve hit the ground running, and we can’t wait to see where we go!”
