My wife is a fiddle player and we could use some music books to help us learn some tunes together. I'm a beginner at banjo but she's a pretty good violinist (er, I mean fiddle-ist). I found Wayne Erbson's "Southern Mountain" series as one option but wanted to put the question to the community. Any recommendations for books with banjo tab and fiddle melody lines? Lyrics would be bonus. Thanks in advance!

Dan Levenson's book "Old-Time Festival Tunes for Clawhammer Banjo" has three music lines. Basic and Advanced banjo TAB and a basic melody line (standard music notation). It has 117 tunes which ought to keep you busy for a week or two. Hope this helps.

Hey Norman!! The banjo is a lot of fun and since your wife is a fiddler, it'll be twice as much fun. I don't know about many of the books out there but when I first started I used a book by Wayne Erbsen entitled Bluegrass banjo for the complete ignoramus or something like that. I thought it was good.
Anyway, I have a VHS by Alan Munde for beginners. I've never watched it ( I picked it up at a yard sale. If you're interested, I'd be happy to send it to you.
Oh, Thanks for the encouragement.
