I have been a banjo player for 50 yrs,When I began 5 string clawhammer about 2 yrs ago,my first passing the torch was my1927 Paramount style C Lang New York plectrum. It went to a friend who had asked me to sell it for years.I sold it for a song.$400 w/case.He let it sit for a year, never learned. Then he gave it to a musician who plays with "Ghosts on the Brazos",an Austin band, very nice guys. The player makes it sound joyously rich.So no good deed goes "unpunished".I took the $400 and bought a Deering Goodtime here on classified.Fixed it up,set it up for a woman with tiny hands, that played 3 finger w/picks.Sold it for $400.She is learning off Youtube a black woman's 5 string banjo music. It is nice to listen to someone with the love of banjo take off with a banjo set up for her.Recently another woman heard I did banjos for newbee lover. She looked at a .Gold Tone CB 100 first year model pattern headstock. She is gathering $400 to get it.So,this is the saga of a $400 circle and BHO classifieds bringing joy to new banjo lovers.
