Banjo as Anticipation

Posted by Joanchek on Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Just played for an hour, and played rather well if I do say so myself.  My elbow is stiff as can be right now, and was nearly painful when I stopped.  This tells me that I have a little too much tension in my right arm, I think.

If I get my work done today, I will try to record some tomorrow morning.  We have a slammed afternoon today--Laine's senior pics are in and I want to see them.  The photographer sounded very very pleased with them, so I can't wait.  I have some errands to do and I still have to figure out what to feed my company for the weekend.  My niece and her husband are coming on Friday, and we always have such a good time together.  They're sweet kids, and smart and fun to have around.  They also bring Phoebe, who is a lab/shar pei mix.  She looks like a skinny black dog wearing her big brother's black sweater.  Pheobe loves to run, and since we have such a huge yard, it's a real treat for her.  She also manages to find every dead critter in the back lot, so we do have to keep a close eye on what she's rolling around in.  I also have trivia friends stopping by for lunch on Friday--they're traveling from DC to Syracuse and this is a good stopping point for them.  I can offer them a meal, a clean bathroom, and room for their 5 year old to run off some energy.  They're fun people.  Last time I saw them was at a group dinner at the DCBash in June.  We had a little contest while we were waiting to be served:  the ever-popular "what's the weirdest thing in your purse" game.  Kelli won hands down--she pulled out a red clown nose.  Best I could do was dental floss!

The busy part of the summer is definitely gearing up.  I am excited about the events over the next month, and really looking forward to the family reunion here in October.  Gentlemen, start your engines!  This weekend feels like a real kick-off!
