Well, actually I have taken 3 weeks vacation owing me and will officially retire on April 30th. So there's no going back. I will play and play every day for the rest of my life. How good is that? And hopefully now that I have my evenings free, there will be some pickin' jams and more workshops in my future. I am blessed with reasonable health and three beautiful banjos to spend my retirement with.

Enjoy your retirement -- it's great fun, although you'll soon wonder how you ever got anything done when you worked. It's fun going to festivals early and getting in on the jammin'. It's great not having to wake up the alarm clock every weekday. It's wonderful not to have to get out when the weather is bad. Retirement is great!

I have been retired for several years, and am busier than when I was working.

I appreciate your comments and I hope to be busier than ever now that I have time to be busy. Posting on BHO is one of the things I may do more as you have reminded me of what a great web community this is.

Congrats and enjoy it. - 1 April is was 6 years ago I retired. - Worked different times at the day...one weekend free - NeXT weekend Work...I really enjoy retirement. - Since I have consentraded me about, a long time wish... more music... I can now say yes to music jobs, far from the place where I live. - Have better time to the grand childrens - visiting festivals...this year my wife and I visit Ewob (European World of bluegrass) in Nederland...and so on..and so on.. I agree with Texasbanjo and Dave...When you have music as interest...you`ll be busy, and you`ll enjoy visiting festivals and jamming....
The best wishes to you..

Nicest thing about retirement, you get to do what YOU want to do! And everything has to hinge around your time frame............alarm clocks, bad weather, deadlines, continuing education credits, ugh - hated them! The only time I don't mind alarm clocks is if a festival is involved!

Congrats. I retired in 2006 and stay busy all the time. They say that is the best thing you can do. Don't get lazy. I try to pick 3 or 4 times a week but that doesn't always work out. Just to many projects. But you know what? It just doesn't matter. Why? Because we are retired.
Good luck and enjoy your new career.
