It's hard to beat...

Posted by Stev187 on Sunday, July 22, 2007

... a Lake Michigan sunset.

Photo I took of the sunset on Saturday, July 22.

For the first time in 9 years, I went back to Grand Haven to visit the site where my grandparents' house burned down.  We visited my wonderful Aunt Barb, who has the place next door.  My cousin actually owns the vacant lot where the house stood.  This is where Doc's workbench was when they pulled it out of the burned house.

I love the west coast of Michigan.  It's truly my favorite place in the world.  And like I say, it's hard to beat a Lake Michigan sunset.

I'm so glad you had a good time!  And I love the fact that you love the
west side of Michigan and the wonderful Lake Michigan sunsets!!  I am getting used to watching the sunset over the Sound instead of Lake Michigan.

Hey mom!  I thought you'd check in here!

The visit with Barb and Dean was great.  They gave me a few more of Doc's tools.  We had Pronto Pups, Front Porch ice cream, and Owen paddled a kyak all by himself.

Love you, Mom!

It really sounds like a great time!!  Hope you got lots of pictures - I'd love to see the one of Owen in the kyak, both alone and with you!!  It's wonderful to know the kids are experiencing both what I did as a child and what you experienced.  Doc used to take us out in intertubes - probably can't find them anymore!!

I am so proud of you Steve!  Love, Mom
