I picked this tailpiece up on ebay. I've always liked the sound of an Oettinger (vs. a Grover Patent Presto) on my B&D banjos. So I decided to try this German-made Tensionator version for my Williams bluegrass banjo.
I really like it a lot. The individual string adjustability really helps fine tune the tone of the banjo. I set it as I do on tenor - with the 4th string choked down and the others set progressively higher. The result is a a very well-balanced sound that is big and open. The middle strings are especially improved compared to the OEM Presto.
