Started playing a few years ago in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Now living in southern Japan (Kagoshima). Would love to meet some other folks in Kyushu who also play the banjo. I play clawhammer as well as 3-finger bluegrass.

You might do a member search. We have quite a few people from Japan who are members.
Look on the left hand side of the page under members, click on member search. Then under "country" scroll down to Japan and click on that then click on okay. It will take you to all the members who live in Japan.
Good luck, I hope you find someone to pick with.

Hi, I just joined, and I'm a long time resident of Fukuoka. I also just bought my first banjo for all of 5000 yen. It's beat up but sounds OK to me. Now I just have to learn how to play.

Do you like the Tenesy FB400? Is the neck good? Do you think one in good shape is worth $300 I'm pondering getting one or biting a larger money bullet and hoping to find a Deering Goodtime special. But I'm already good with mandolin tuning, chords & lead so I might even be inspired by some other type like a 4 or 6 string. I've had a few things happen that make me think I should see if I would "learn to love" one, - from a distance they don't do a lot for me - probably cause I'm intimidated and afraid it will "scramble" my brains guitar "lead patterns"... I always thought it would be nice to have that mando "reverb/echo" without having to fight with the "doubled finger pressure" cause of each string being a pair in unison.
