Health Issues

Posted by MBCrawford on Friday, February 7, 2014

For some time now I have been having some health issues,  weak spells with shaking, sweating, headaches and other problems, I have gone to my doctor and he tried some things but it never seemed to help. My son who is a Paramedic was home one Sunday when I was having a spell and he checked my blood sugar, which was about 97, then he listened to my heart, now for many years I have had a very slow heart rate, from what I understand most folks heart rate are around 60, mine is around the upper 30's to the low 40's. He said that my heart didn't sound right and that I should see a heart doctor, so I did. After a bunch of test and wearing a monitor I now have to have a pacemaker installed on the 14th of this month. Of course it's scary and makes one think about many things, but I have come to realize that if this is what I need and it will make me feel better then that is what needs to be done. I have been burning up the internet looking about pacemakers and watching You-Tube on how it's put in and how it works, it doesn't look that bad, but I'm no doctor. I just hope that all goes well and this is answer that I need to get my heath back on track, thanks for letting me share this.

I have a friend with a pacemaker and it made all the difference in the world to him. He's now able to do things he couldn't before and the pacemaker is just a little "lump" that he hardly notices now.

I hope everything goes well for you and the pacemaker takes care of your problems like it did for my friend.

Let us know how it works out! My cardio dox was about to put one in me, but my last checkup came back as
normal, so I guess I'm off the hook for the time being.

Well to update you, in the 14th of Feb I had it put in and I'm already back to work. I can't believe the differance that is makes, I feel a 100% better. My heart rate is staying constant and the lowest it goes now is 60 bpm. I should of had this done years ago, I feel like is have 3 times the energy that I use to have and I don't just fall asleep at the drop of a hat anymore. I understand about the normal check up, I hope all goes well there, it's very important to make sure your heart works correctly. let me know how it goes.

It's scary but it sounds like good news to me. You'll be ripping up and down the neck of your banjo before you know it. My old man had some heart problems (leaky valve) which were giving him similar symptoms to yours. When he got it sorted out he COULDN'T BELIEVE how great he felt.

I can totally understand how he feels, it is very suprising how much you heart controls how you feel and your get up and go. I have already been playing my banjo some, I can
't stay away from that too long.
