Happy New Year everyone, since my last blog back in August I have been playing regularly with a guitar player I met on a music website in the Hudson Valley N.Y. area I have learned allot about jamming with another musician in fact my neighbor across the street plays bass and we have close to twenty songs down and are looking to get something going, now I have yet to play in any kind of a bar so I am going to be scared but there is a place where we are going to rehearse our 20 songs in some quite bar during the week so that might help. Now the songs we are playing are allot of fun some songs I never really played before so I am doing allot of improvising on the breaks my back up is getting real good but I am having a little trouble on some of my attack on my breaks but I get through it I might miss a few notes or sometimes all three fingers ain't working but I land on the right note. I am in my third year and I guess this where I should be the songs we are playing are Bill Monroe songs mostly in G because the singer likes them there which is fine also we are also doing some Old & in the Way stuff which I love it's a little more looser but it is allot of fun. We are are getting our starts and endings down also who takes a break here and there, the songs we all choose to play is a group effort, so some stuff that I haven't played in a while is kind of going by the wayside although I try to practice them on my own when I get a chance, hopefully over time my breaks will get better with more experience and playing in front of others don't get me wrong I do have good days I just want my playing to be more consistent but we are playing on a regular basis at least once a week, if I get any audio or video I will post in the near future, anyway Happy New Year!
