Banjo as Reformat

Posted by Joanchek on Wednesday, July 18, 2007

Well, I figured out the iRiver problem with help from a message board in Australia.  Ain't the internet grand?  Unfortunately, to solve the problem I had to reformat the player, so I lost yesterday's recordings.  I tried more today, but I really didn't play well.  Maybe tomorrow.  My allergies have really kicked up today--there's a big low pressure front on the way in and my sinuses always react badly to low air pressure.

I did realize today that I have neglected my metronome work.  I did about a half an hour with it this morning and got some of my "machine gun" timing back.  That's one of the great things about listening to myself play--I can hear a lot of things I miss while I am actually playing.  I discovered that on a couple of numbers that I thought I was playing really well, I was gradually slowing down over the course of the piece and then speeding up again near the end.  It's not a huge slow-down, but it was noticeable to me.  So, time to clean that up before it becomes Bad Habit.

In less fun news of the day, my daughter had the ill-fortune to stop next to a pervert in a Buick at a stoplight on her way to work, who decided she needed to see all of his shortcomings.  She called me, and then called the police, but he had driven away too fast for her to get a plate number.  She did have a description of the man and his car, so maybe that will be helpful to the police.  They were not encouraging when she called.  I only wish I had been driving at the time... I'd have followed the creep.  I hope that they catch him before his behavior escalates, or before there's a child victim.
