Goodness gracious!
I haven't even been on here for about a week. Life's been busy and I've been sick -.- Migraine was so bad today I couldn't even pick up the banjo which made it even worse!
I've been working on trying to master a song so I can enter the rookie contest.. But I'm worried that my songs aren't going to be challenging enough for anyone to vote for me. Keep in mind that I've only been playing since about July 10th. That's roughly a month of messing around and two half-hour lessons.
That being said, I can't even play cripple creek....
I know that it's going to take me a while to get the hang of it, since I haven't played much of an instrument since piano twelve years ago. But I can't even play what I'm good at in the presence of my instructor! He must think I don't pay attention at all. I perfect everything at home and get in front of him and can't play anything...
sorry for the rambling! just needed to put my thoughts in writing.

Lots of really good guitar players find the banjo difficult - so it's not like it's easy. It's largely a matter of repetition till you get the basics down - and then it's fun. I love the fact that you hear banjo in almost all the popular music. Avett, Mumford, and Country Music have really made the sound more popular. A good instrument makes it easier to sound good when you're learning - but mostly it's just repetition and practice. I get migraines too - find out what your food triggers are and find out which meds work best. And most importantly - keep on picking.
