I'm not really talking about me, though I did just turn 72. I mean my pine banjer I painted black last year; Strumelia called it "an old soul." But, like many things at this time of life the soul may be willing but the flesh is weak. I had loaned it to my recording engineer who was enthralled but mostly hung it on the wall. I borrowed it back last month to use at the local folk festival and...woops! A picture is worth a thousand words (which it takes me no time at all to rack up). I had made the neck joint rather thin and it has just bent at that junction. The pot is fine and the neck is straight but I clearly will have to reinforce the joint and use all three layers of wood. I must have been feeling my oats that day; I do remember being rather pleased with myself in making the neck so thin - and the banjer is very light - but the laws of Physics are immutable. (At least for us mortals.)
[I can't get the photo to link here: it's in the CCB Mt Banjers folder.]
