This is the Virtual Country Jam "V Lesu Rodilas' Yolochka" ("A Christmas Tree") from Russian musicians from different parts of the USSR!
Once my banjo teacher George Sobolev (his name is Gontii on BHO) wrote tabs for banjo for the Russian New Year song and posted his playing on YouTube. I liked it and asked him to send me the tabs so I could also learn how to play this song on banjo. Then I recorded it with Alex and added to my banjo CD, also I made a funny music video for our version) . And when I posted it on internet, some of Russian bluegrass lovers liked it and had an idea to play it together. So me and Alex said, okey, let's do it
It was recorded through the internet and then mixed together. The musicians never been played together in the real life and they never saw each other, only in the internet.
I'll translate the Russian titles from the video (with the links to facebook pages):
Banjo solo (and then backup) - Janna Kim, Guitar solo - George Sobolev, Fiddle - Сергей Мосолов, Harmonica solo - George Sobolev, Guitar Solo, Guitar Rhythm, Arrangement and mixing - Alexander Kartoyev, Banjo solo - George Sobolev, Fiddle again - Сергей Мосолов, Harmonica solo - Dmitriy Makarov and then me again on banjo. Video created by me

I am always amazed at the appeal of Bluegrass and at how well people in places like Russia play it.
